The Featured Categories module allows you to give selected product categories additional visibility on the Perno Store storefront. It can be used to promote high-performing catalogue sections, seasonal collections or categories connected with current campaigns.
Featured categories are managed separately for each store. Before making changes, check the Context selector and confirm that the correct Perno Store is selected.
Before adding a featured category
A product category must already exist before it can be featured. If the required category has not yet been created:
-
Go to Products → Categories.
-
Create and configure the category.
-
Return to the Featured categories module.
Opening Featured Categories
-
Expand Products in the left-hand navigation.
-
Select Featured categories.
-
Check the Store Context panel to confirm which store you are managing.

The Featured Slots panel shows how many categories are currently promoted on the storefront.
Adding a featured category
-
Click Add Featured Category.
-
If no featured categories exist yet, you can also click Add First Featured Category or use the blue + button.

-
Complete the Featured Category Settings:
-
Category: Select the existing product category that should receive featured placement.
-
Sequence: Enter a number defining the category’s position among the featured categories. Lower sequence numbers are displayed earlier and should be used for the highest-priority categories.
-
Featured Image: Optionally upload an image that will represent the category in its featured storefront placement.
-
Review the Context panel to confirm the selected store and creation mode.
-
Click Add Featured Category.
To leave without saving, click Cancel or Back to Featured Categories.

Reviewing featured categories
After saving, the category appears in the Featured Category Registry.
The registry displays:
-
Sequence: the category’s storefront order.
-
Category: the promoted category.
-
Featured Image: the visual uploaded for the featured placement.
-
Product Preview: products that the featured category will surface.
-
Actions: management options for the featured entry.

If no suitable products are available for the category, the registry may display No preview products available.
Use the three-dot icon in the Actions column to access the available management options for an existing featured category.
Replacing a featured category
If every eligible category has already been added, the Add Featured Category button is replaced with No Categories Left.
To feature a different category:
-
Find a category that should no longer be featured.
-
Open its three-dot action menu.
-
Remove it from the Featured Category Registry.
-
Click Add Featured Category.
-
Select the replacement category and configure its sequence and image.
Removing a category from the featured list does not remove the original category from the store catalogue.
Recommended use
Feature broad, high-converting categories first and use lower sequence numbers for the sections customers should encounter earliest. Review the list regularly and rotate featured categories to reflect:
-
seasonal collections,
-
promotional campaigns,
-
newly launched product groups,
-
high-performing catalogue branches.
After changing featured categories, review the storefront to confirm that their order, images and product previews are displayed correctly.
