How to manage tabs in the store's header menu?

Show or hide header menu items, set their default label, and manage translations for every language your store supports.

The Header Menu controls which links appear in the storefront's top navigation bar for the currently selected store, and what each link is labeled. Every entry is a static, built-in menu item - Categories, Home, Shop, Your account, Store pages, and so on - so items can't be added or removed here, but each one can be shown or hidden, renamed for the default store language, and given translated labels for every other language the store supports. This guide covers opening the Header Menu, editing a menu item's visibility and label, and adding, editing, or deleting its translations.

Switching to your store context

The Header Menu is managed from the Store context. If a different context is currently active, switch to your store first:
  • Click the Context switcher in the top navigation bar.

  • Select Store from the list.

The dashboard now shows live data for the selected store:

Opening Header Menu

  • Click Your store in the left sidebar to expand it, then click Header menu.

The Header Menu page lists every static menu item for the store, along with its type and whether it's currently visible:

Editing a menu item

Click the pencil icon next to a menu item to open it. From here you can update:

Field Description
Menu Item Name The label shown for this item in the default store language.
Show in header menu Turns the item on or off in the storefront header. Unchecking it hides the link from customers without deleting the item itself.

The Context panel on the right confirms the store, item type, and theme you're editing. Click Save Changes to apply the update, or Cancel to discard it:

Opening translations for a menu item

Click Translations from the Edit Header Menu Item page to manage localized labels for that item. The Translations page shows the menu item and how many localized labels already exist:

Adding a translation

  • Click + Add Translation.

  • Choose the Language to translate into, then enter the localized Menu Item Name that customers browsing in that language will see.

The Context panel on the right confirms the store, menu item, and theme you're adding the translation to. Click Create Translation to save it, or Cancel to discard it:

The translation now appears in the Translation Registry, listing its language and localized label

Managing a translation

Click the menu next to a translation to:

  • Edit - change the localized label.
  • Delete - remove the translation.

Editing a translation

Update the Menu Item Name for the selected language, then click Save Changes to apply it, or Cancel to discard it:

Deleting a translation

From the Translation Registry, open the menu next to the translation and select Delete:

A confirmation dialog appears, naming the language of the translation to be removed. Click Delete Translation to permanently remove it, or Cancel to keep it and close the dialog:

What changes on your storefront

The Header Menu doesn't just describe the storefront's navigation - it drives it directly. Every visible item you configure here renders as a link in the top navigation bar of the live storefront, in the same order they're listed on the Header Menu page:

  • Visibility - unchecking Show in header menu for an item removes its link from the storefront header entirely; checking it brings the link back.
  • Label - the Menu Item Name on the Edit page is what's shown when a customer is browsing in the store's default language.
  • Translations - when a customer switches the storefront's language selector (top-left, e.g. Polski) to a language with a saved translation, the corresponding item's label switches too - for example, Categories becomes Kategorie. Languages without a translation continue to show the default-language label.
