Categories organize a store's products into a browsable tree. Each category can be a top-level section or nested under another one. This guide covers adding a category, filling in its content, and managing or deleting it.
What is Categories for?
Categories organize the product catalog for the currently selected store into a browsable tree. Each category can be created as a top-level (root) category or nested under an existing one, and controls how products are grouped and how customers navigate the storefront.
Switching to your store context
- Click the Context switcher in the top navigation bar.

- Select Store from the list.

The dashboard now shows live data for the selected store:
Opening Categories
- Click Products in the left sidebar to expand it, then click Categories.

The Categories page shows the store you're currently managing and how many category nodes are visible in its tree:
Adding a category
- Click + Add Category.

- Fill in the Core Information:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Category Name | Required. The name of the category, shown in the category tree and storefront navigation. |
| Slug | Required. The URL slug used for the category's storefront page. |
| Category Lead | Optional. A short lead-in line for the category. |
| Parent Category | Defaults to No parent (root category). Choose an existing category to nest this one underneath it, or leave the default to create a top-level category. |
| Show on Home Page | When checked, the category appears in the homepage navigation and category sections. |
| Category Icon | Optional image shown for the category in navigation menus. |
| Category Pictogram | Optional image used as a small pictogram for the category. |
| Homepage Image | Optional image used when the category is featured on the homepage. |
| Blog Categories | Optional. Only used on top-level category landing pages. |
As you fill in the form, the Context panel on the right confirms the store you're adding to and whether you're creating a root category or a subcategory of the parent you selected.
Adding storefront content
The Content Blocks section holds long-form storefront copy for the category. Every field here is optional rich text:
- Category Description - the main descriptive copy shown on the category page.
- Additional Product Description - supplementary copy for products in the category.
- Additional Description Box 1-4 - extra content blocks for further storefront copy.
- Care Instructions - Left Column / Right Column - two-column care instructions for products in the category.
- Delivery Description - delivery information specific to the category.
- Returns Description - returns information specific to the category.
- Paid Order Email Subject - a custom subject line for paid order emails tied to this category.
- Paid Order Email Message - a custom message body for paid order emails tied to this category.
Saving the category
Once the form is filled in, click Create Category to save it, or Cancel to discard it.

The category now appears in the Category Tree, along with its nesting level:
