The Attributes module in Perno Store allows you to create reusable product characteristics, such as size, color, material or capacity. An attribute can be attached to multiple product categories, helping maintain consistent product information across the catalogue.
Attributes are managed separately for each store. Before creating or editing an attribute, check the Context selector and confirm that the correct Perno Store is selected.
Opening the Attributes module
-
Expand Products in the left-hand navigation.
-
Select Attributes.
-
Check the store information displayed on the page to confirm the current context.

The Attributes page lists all reusable attributes created for the selected store. If no attributes exist, click Create Attribute. You can also click Add Attribute or use the blue + button.
Creating an attribute
-
Click Add Attribute.

-
Complete the attribute settings:
-
Attribute Name: Enter a clear name describing the product characteristic, such as Color, Size, Material or Capacity.
-
Attribute Type: Select how the attribute should collect or display information. The Select fields type is used when the attribute should offer predefined values.
-
Required Attribute: Select this option if products in categories using this attribute must have a value assigned.
-
Size Attribute: Select Yes if the attribute represents product sizes.
-
Color Attribute: Select Yes if the attribute represents product colors.
-
Review the Context panel to make sure the attribute is being created for the correct store.
-
Click Create Attribute.
To leave without creating the attribute, click Cancel or Back to Attributes.

Adding attribute values
After creating a select-field attribute, define the values that users can choose from.
For example:
-
Attribute: Color
-
Values: Black, White, Blue
or:
-
Attribute: Size
-
Values: S, M, L, XL
On the Attributes list, use the values icon in the Actions column to open value management for the selected attribute. Add the required options and keep their names consistent across the catalogue.
The Values column shows how many values have been created for each attribute.

Attaching an attribute to a category
Creating an attribute does not automatically connect it to a category. To make it available for products in a particular part of the catalogue:
-
Go to Products → Categories.
-
Find the relevant category in the Category Tree.
-
Open the category’s three-dot action menu.
-
Select Attributes.
-
Attach the relevant reusable attribute to the category.
-
Save the changes.
The same attribute can be attached to multiple categories. The Categories column on the Attributes page shows how many categories currently use it.
If Required Attribute is enabled, products in the connected category should have an appropriate value assigned.

Managing existing attributes
The Attributes list displays:
-
the attribute name,
-
its type,
-
the number of connected categories,
-
the number of configured values,
-
available actions.
Use the icons in the Actions column to:
-
manage attribute values,
-
manage translations,
-
edit the attribute,
-
delete the attribute.
Use translations when the storefront supports more than one language and the attribute name or its values should be displayed differently for each language.
Before deleting an attribute, check whether it is connected to any categories and whether its values are used by products. Removing an active attribute may affect product information and catalogue filtering.
Create attributes that can be reused across multiple categories and avoid duplicate names for the same characteristic. Use the dedicated Size Attribute and Color Attribute settings only when the attribute genuinely represents size or color.
